PHIATON’S 900 Legacy wins Red Dot for high design quality

Fountain Valley, Calif. April 12, 2021. Phiaton Corporation has been successful in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The international jury has awarded 900 Legacy the distinction “Red Dot”, which stands for high design quality.

Phiaton Corporation, a premium manufacturer of high-performance personal audio products, announces the latest addition to its popular line of wireless headphones and earphones: the over-ear 900 Legacy headphones. Featuring state-of-the-art digital hybrid noise-cancelling technology, Bluetooth 5.1, up to 43 hours of playback time, quick charge capabilities and a carbon graphite fiber pattern design with memory foam ear pads for a comfortable fit, 900 Legacy is built for high quality listening and is now available for $249.99 on Amazon

For consumers looking to drown out outside noise, 900 Legacy achieves noise reduction through digital hybrid noise-cancelling. By using both the outside (feed forward) and inside (feedback) microphones, a customized 40 mm speaker driver and a 24 depth/192 KHz sampling rate of digital noise filtering, the 900 Legacy is able to produce the most precise and accurate noise cancelling performance. A dedicated NC button on the headphones allows for transparency mode to let outside sound in, whenever users want to hear what’s going on around them.

Phiaton strives to deliver innovative technologies for its audio products and the 900 Legacy is no different. Enhanced noise cancelling performance and optimal sound quality are achieved by stacking up two diaphragms with different acoustic characteristics. With aptX HD codec built-in, the 900 Legacy delivers a more efficient digital streaming platform and high fidelity 24-bit depth delivers superb acoustic performance.

The 900 Legacy was designed to address many of the common challenges people face with headphones and wireless technology, placing particular emphasis on extending the battery life to accommodate more frequent usage. The 900 Legacy boasts an impressive 43 hours of battery life with Bluetooth and noise-cancelling enabled, outperforming all comparable headphones in the market. Further, if the battery does run out, Everyplay-X allows users to continue listening to music or their phone call using the audio cable included with the headphones. When a charge is needed, the quick charge feature delivers 4 hours of playtime on a single 10 min charge.

Intuitive touch controls located on the right side of the headphones makes it easy for consumers to control their listening experience with a light tap or swipe. Using Smart Play & Pause will automatically stop playback once the headphones are removed and resume once the headphones are worn again allowing users to never miss out on what they’re listening to.

Designed with premium comfort and luxury in mind, the 900 Legacy is built with high quality, over-ear memory foam ear pads that insulate the ears so consumers can hear the purest sound without any distortion. The body of the headphones are made of a carbon graphite fiber pattern design giving the 900 Legacy an elegant and sophisticated look. The accompanying carrying case is shockproof and water resistant allowing consumers to keep their 900 Legacy in pristine condition.

Each package includes 900 Legacy headphones, a USB-C to A charging cable, audio cable and carrying case. Phiaton’s 900 Legacy is available now in black for $249 on Amazon. For more information please visit www.phiaton.com

Red Dot CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec on the laureates

“The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 were particularly impressive this year. The design of their products is excellent, in terms of both the aesthetic and the functionality. It’s not easy to prevail in such a strong field of competitors and to win over our jury. Consequently, I want to congratulate the laureates very sincerely on their success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.

Evaluation platform for good design

The Red Dot Award: Product Design dates back as far as 1955 and recognises the best products for a given year. The roughly 50 jurors were once again true to the motto “In search of good design and innovation” in the 2021 competition. The international panel of experts comprises specialists from a wide variety of sectors. They scrutinised the products entered in the competition in a process that spanned several days and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality, ergonomics and longevity.

900 Legacy in exhibitions, online and in the yearbook

900 Legacy can be seen in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website from 21 June 2021. That date also marks the beginning of the Red Dot Design Week, during which this year’s award winners and Phiaton will be celebrated online.

From 22 June 2021, 900 Legacy will also be included in the exhibition “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, where all of the award-winning products are showcased. Visitors to the museum can experience the quality of the designs in a space that features contemporary design solutions and historical industrial architecture. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2021/2022 comes out in August. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the state of the art and trends in product design.
